Zirconia is an extremely refractory material. It possesses excellent chemical inertness and corrosion resistance at temperatures well above the melting point of alumina. VS Zirconia is fully stabilized in the cubic crystal structure to avoid cracking and mechanical weakening during thermal cycling. In addition to its high temperature capability, Zirconia offers low thermal conductivity and is electrically conductive above 800ºC. Also has the unique ability to allow oxygen ions to move freely through the crystal structure above 600ºC.
VS offer sintered components with following Zirconia Compositions:
- 3 mol% Yttria Stabilised Zirconia : 3YSZ( 94.2 wt% Zirconia and 5.4 wt% Ytrria) for high toughness requirement.
- 8 mol % Yttria Stabilized Zirconia : 8YSZ( Zirconia > 85 Wt% and Yttria 12.5-13.5 wt%) for electrical conductivity application by diffusion of oxygen vacancy.
- Ceria Stabilised Zirconia ( Zirconia > 83% wt% and Ceria < 17 wt%) for high abrasion resistance and toughness requirement.
